baby book idea…

a friend of mine recently told me that she had been putting off buying and writing in her baby book for her little girl… well now she is pregnant again and realized she needed to get going on her little girl’s book as well as her new little one’s! so, she had been writing all of her daughter’s milestones on post it notes and storing them in a shoebox, so that when she wanted to sit down and write in her baby book, she could be organized and know exactly what she wanted to write! you could also keep a little notepad on your fridge for each child and write down little tid bits about them, funny things they said and did and when you have the time, take those notes and record them in the baby book… keep a doc open on your computer, keep a notebook at your desk, but just write. i have found with my little 2 year old, i have already forgotten so much of what he has done and said already, simply because i didn’t write it down!!

so, just write it somewhere and you’ll be thankful later! :)

keeping house

for some people, keeping a neat and orderly house is second nature. it takes no thought or effort and just comes easily. BUT for me, and many others, i have had to learn. that is why i have accumulated a few great resources to check out in this area…

who doesn’t like a little bit of martha?! my mother-in-law actually grew up next door to martha in new jersey and went through grade school and high school with her, so naturally our family has a special place in our heart for her :) … i found a neat section on marthastewart.com that addresses tons of housekeeping questions… its called her MAINTAINING section. how to deal with the upkeep of all the housecleaning, stains, dealing with unique cleaning situations, and a billion ways to use white vinegar! bookmark it and use it often!

however, if you are looking for an awesome hard copy BOOK for all your housekeeping questions… here it is..

HOME COMFORTS by Cheryl Mendelson… you can use it as a reference guide or, if you are like me and need to absorb as much motivation and instruction for cleaning your house, you can read it straight through! :) tons of great information and totally relevant to our day and age… highly reccomended as a great wedding shower gift as well!!

a little about me :)

july is a big month for our family. i was born on the 19th. my husband and i were married on the 23rd. i’ve got 10 cousins/aunts/uncles born in july and a ton of friends as well. but 2 years ago, july gained new significance….

i was 29 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first baby… june 28, 2007 i was admitted to the hospital for preterm labor. thought it was nothing, but God knew i wouldn’t leave the hospital until delivery. the docs tried to hold off the contractions, tried oral meds and got 2 steroid shots to speed up the development of the baby’s lungs, no stopping… so then… the mag… magnesium sulfate intravenously… my dear friend, bethany, my nurse said it would feel like fire under your skin and make you feel absolutely horrible and it had made Christian women curse in pain. yeah! sign me up! {i worked really hard and prayed that i would keep my mouth shut!} :) well, i was on it around the clock and on complete hospital bedrest. i was not even going to be able to stand up until my baby was born. scary news to a first time mom with absolutely no family history or medical reason for going into labor. our prayer was that i would make it to july to deliver….

and we did… by a mere 31 hours :) … our precious son, cade james was born july 2 . 2007 at 7:44am. we still praise God that he was breathing on his own from birth, though he was little {3 pounds, 1 ounce, and 15.5″} he spent only 8 weeks in the NICU and was 8 lbs on his due date! Our Lord has amazingly sustained him and has grown him into the sweetest little boy. He has had no medical conditions or delays and we know the our God is the one who gets the praise.
